Yep, new Canadian service provider wind Mobile was not joking around when they said they wanted to launch this week. They have gone official with the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Bold 9700, announcing that no contract will be required to pick one up, no minimum voice plan, and have rates available as pre-paid or post-paid options. This is all brand spanking new for Canadians, and presuming the rest of their devices have the same conditions, wind Mobile will make good on their talk about revolutionizing wireless in the frigid north. No specific price point is mentioned, but considering the device is off-contract, it’s likely unsubsidized, and a $500+ pricetag could scare off potential customers sniffing around the new alternative. For more details on the BlackBerry Bold 9700, scope out our review, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled on wind Mobile’s site, which has just gone under construction presumably to show off the rest of their phones and plans.
