Broadcom

Broadcom announced BCM2763 VideoCore IV processor, what they say is the next generation multimedia processor capable of providing high-end performances. The new product requires less power to work thanks to the use of 40 nanometer technology — as opposed to 65nm used in current processors. Moreover, this baby is capable to process 20-megapixel photos, 1080p HD videos, and render 1 gigapixel 2D/3D graphics! That’s super impressive, too bad handset makers will have to wait for 2011 when Broadcom will start shipping the VideoCore IV. As for the end-users, I’m guessing we’ll have to wait even longer, at least till 2012. Then again, there’s something to hope for… ;)
