Brightkite is the first company to offer augmented reality advertising

A company called Brightkite has launched the first augmented reality advertising solution in the U.S. For the start, they have partnered with Best Buy to run what seems as the first AR ad within the Brightkite app for Android and the iPhone.

The trick is in using highly targeted information such as places you visit often along with activities you engage in to serve appropriate ads. Sure, that could be invasive, but by now you got used to Google’s search-relevant ads, right?
