This time around India plans to offer 3G licenses on time, to start the process on January 14th, 2010, thus removing all the doubts the process will be delayed once again.
The country’s Telecom Minister Andimuthu Raja said: “Allotment of spectrum to maintain the level playing field will be by August 2010,” adding that allotment to the four service providers will be simultaneous.
The auction is expected to generate at least $1.5 billion, with more to come from a separate WiMAX license auction that will start two weeks after the 3G license sale is completed. As always, we’ll keep you posted…
