My local Telco here in Manitoba, MTS (Manitoba Telecom Services), has announced their 2009 results. The numbers are overall quite good. They now have almost half a million subscribers (458,478), which puts them up 5.5% from last year. Revenues increased by $3.9 million in Q4 for a total yearly revenue of $312.9 million. This is up $23.2 million from 2008.
Commenting on the results, CFO Wayne Demkey noted:
“We continue to maintain a strong overall financial profile and a solid balance sheet. We have demonstrated a consistent ability to successfully access capital markets for funding requirements. This speaks to the strength of our company and of a track record of prudent management. We have also successfully pre-funded our HSPA build for Manitoba and our complete pension funding obligations for 2010.”
Sounds like things are looking up for 2010. MTS is slated to launch a new HSPA network late in 2010… and revenues for the year are expected to reach as high at $1.88 billion.
For more details, pop over to MTS.
Note: In another little ‘tidbit’ of MTS info, I seem to recall MTS noted they were in discussions with manufacturers to bring some Android love to the carrier in 2010. Spring 2010 was the target, hopefully they can meet that too!
