Google cooking up another Nexus One 3G fix?

Looks like the last OTA update for the Nexus One seemed to be focused primarily on features, rather than fixes. The update that enabled multi-touch in the Browser, Gallery, and Maps applications also promised to fix the 3G problems that had been plaguing Nexus One users since the launch of the device. Now that the update has reached the majority of Nexus One users, it seems the problems still persist. But, there’s still hope. Google may be working on a fix to the Nexus One’s 3G issues.

Apparently, there is a newer ROM floating around the XDA forums, which some have said that has improved their 3G connectivity, amongst other things. It seems the real work has been put into the part of the code that controls the GSM radio. People who have installed it without the rest of the ROM have seen less fluctuation in signal and better signal strength overall. Only time will tell if this is indeed an official update that will begin to roll out in the near future, or if it is just a half-baked version of a future update. Some users have reported success, while others have not, so it is not advised to try this out just yet if you are unsure of what you are doing.

If this update is coming sometime in the near future, I hope Google packages it up with some extra features like the last update. Something small, but useful, like Flash 10.1? That’s not asking too much, is it?

How come the nexus one is blamed for 3g problem and not T-Mobile, when ever the Iphone has 3g trouble people are quick to blame AT&T for that, which leads me to believe that the Iphone is the main corporate in the problem and not AT&T. Can somebody please explain this? I think a lot of people are accustom to the Iphone and don’t want to a adjust to the Nexus One phone. From what I seen and read the Nexus One is really and Iphone killer. People talk about apps are better which i think is BS. So what Iphone has over 140,000 apps, the question is how many of those apps do you us? Everything the Iphone does the Nexus one does just a little faster and better.. So without bringing apps in the picture how is the Iphone better than the Nexus One?

I have been tracking the Nexus One 3g problem since the start. I sold my BB and Droid in anticipation of the N1 and have waited passionately for them to fix it. If you watch some of the videos on YouTube it seems pretty clear that this is an antenna/hardware problem. So this is not a Google problem nor is it a T-Mobile problem, this is clearly a HTC problem. Unfortunately that means I am in search of a new phone as it will be months or longer for a fix.

Iheard it’s a software problem. Something about it continually searching for new networks to connect to despite being connected to 3g.
