Nuance has unveiled T9 Write, a version of its T9 predictive text technology specially tailored for touchscreen devices. The new tech blends handwriting input with Nuance XT9 predictive text technology to “enhance the recognition of naturally shaped letters, numbers, symbols and punctuation.” In other words, the software will predict words as you write them.

Here are the Nuance T9 Write key features:

  • It learns each user’s preferred vocabulary and even adds new words based on communication patterns.- Handwriting method called “on-top” writing that allows writing each letter or symbol directly on top of each other (versus across the screen), which is very useful with smaller screens.
  • Support for multi-touch gestures with the ability to pre-set gestures that work best for you.
  • Support for any platform and OS, and more than 40 languages.

Finally, you may wonder when will the first devices running Nuance T9 Write hit the market, and the answer is – we don’t know. However, I’m sure Nuance will brag about it as soon as it happens and then we’ll cover it again. ;)
