It was really only a matter of time before the National Aeronautics and Space Administration go on board the good ship iPhone. Today, NASA is giving iPhone users a chance to pilot a Lunar Electric Rover across a virtual lunar landscape. You’re probably never going to get a chance to man the controls of a true blue lunar vehicle, but the new Lunar Electric Rover Simulator for iPhone will help you train for that imaginary day when you set foot on the moon.

The new NASA iPhone game puts you in control of a virtual moon car. You guide the rover through different challenge scenarios, learning facts about the moon as you go. And, since this game comes directly from the people that designed the real-life rover, you’ll get the lowdown on how NASA’s lunar vehicles actually work.

There are also photo galleries to fuel your daydreams of someday walking on the surface of the moon. For space geeks like ourselves, it really doesn’t get any better.
