If you’re nervous about your Pre, Hero any other Sprint phone you can now sign up for the Total Equipment Protection insurance no matter when you bought your phone.

The TEP plan is essentially insurance for your device that costs $7 a month per line and covers your device if it’s lost, damaged or stolen. It also includes free delivery on replacement units, extended customer support and other goodies. Normally, you can only get the TEP plan during the first month of service, but you can now sign up for the service until March 31 no matter what device you have or when you got it.

If you’re comfortable buying your own unlocked devices, this plan may not be for you because no one likes additional fees on a monthly bill. But if you only upgrade every two years this is a great investment just for the peace of mind. Also, when I was on Sprint with the TEP plan I would use it to get a new (or newish factory refurb) device when mine got sluggish or scratched.
