Pictures of Gigabyte’s G1305 Android smartphone have surfaced, looking distinctly different from another device we had seen earlier this year. The Codfish, as the G1305 is more curiously known, packs a 5 megapixel camera, 3.2″ touchscreen, and Android 1.6,  but no word on pricing or availability.

Gigabyte’s other rumoured GSmart handset seems like it will be a the little brother: a 2 megapixel camera, 2.8″ QVGA display, and no 3G pretty much guarantee that it will be under the supposed 200 EUR price point and that being said, the Codfish will likely be a bit pricier. If both handsets are to be launched in tandem, we could see the G1305 as soon as the end of the month.

Gigabyte’s entry into the market is interesting given their history with unrelated hardware, like motherboards and PCs, but it’s a transition that Acer seems to have comfortably made. Historically, Gigabyte stuck with Windows Mobile phones like the S1200,  among others, but it looks like they’re being won over by the growing Android hype. Of course, they’ve had little time to react to Windows Phone 7, so who knows if they’ll stick to their roots.
