Palm Pre owners in the UK will be happy to hear that EA Mobile is giving away three free 3D games with every handset: The Sims 3, Monopoly, and Need for Speed Undercover.  Palm has been hitting GDC hard with their new plug-in development kit, which will allow games to be written in C++ and enabling 3D graphics on their webOS smartphones – this giveaway should punctuate what it all means for end-users.

Obviously iPhone has been rocking 3D games for some time, and BlackBerry provided the necessary support last year, but during its early days, developers weren’t so excited about the gaming possibilities on webOS. The PDK developer tools are probably what were missing, and with any luck, the software marketplace will pick up. The addition of Flash 10.1 opens up even more possibilities on the gaming front, but we’re still going to have to wait awhile for that to really take effect.  Of course, the end goal of all of this is to provide a selection of apps appealing enough to drag up Palm’s hurting sales numbers – what do you guys think, can a few good games save webOS?

If you want to pick up your free games, just crack open the webOS App Catalog, search for The Sims 3, Monopoly, and Need for Speed Undercover to download them for free. Just keep in mind that the offer is up on March 31st. For more info on the offer, hit up Palm.
