Fandango rolls out mobile ticketing

I use Fandango for nearly every movie I go to nowadays, but going to the ticket booth to redeem it can be a pain. If you’re in the eight test markets, you can now use your phone to skip by the ticket lines.

You’ll now have the option to receive your ticket as a 2D QR code that can be scanned at the theater. The movie venues need special scanners to recognize these codes, which is why the program is only available in a few markets. If you print out your own Fandango tickets at home, this may not seem like a big deal but once this is fully rolled out, it would make the Fandango app even better on the go. Feel free to give it a try if you frequent one of the theaters below.

New York: City Cinemas 1, 2 & 3, Angelika Film Center, East 86th Street Cinemas, Village East Cinema, Beekman Theatre, The Paris Theatre.
New Jersey: Manville 12 Plex.
Houston: Angelika Film Center.
Dallas/Plano: Angelika Dallas; Angelika Plano.
San Diego: La Mesa Grossmont Center, Clairemont Town Square Stadium.
Bakersfield: Valley Plaza 16.
Sonoma County: Rohnert Park 16.
Hawaii: Ward Stadium, Kahala Theater, Kapolei 16, Mililani Stadium.
