WordPress for BlackBerry Updated With Geotagging, Gestures, and Comment Notifications

If Tumblr isn’t your cup of tea, WordPress 1.1 for BlackBerry has been released, with a batch of spiffy new features, like tagging your GPS location in each post, gestures for the Storm for sifting through comments. Here’s the full list of updates:

  • Comment Notifications
  • Geotagging of Posts
  • Improved UI interaction on Touch devices
  • introduction of Touch Gestures:
    Sliding a finger to the left or right quickly on the Comment screen displays the next or
    previous comment.
  • Photo Resizing improvements with user defined dimensions
  • New File Browser with thumbnails support
  • Overall enhancements to the speed and stability of the app
  • Language support for
    • English
    • Italian
    • Finnish
    • French
    • Indonesian
    • German
    • Portuguese (Portugal)

I’ve been using WordPress for BlackBerry every once in awhile to tweak my posts here on IntoMobile, but lately it’s been having trouble connecting – maybe it’s something on our end, but it’s still frustrating. The one thing that’s still missing is some semblance of a WYSIWYG editor; it’s a pain chewing through blocks of pure HTML, even with the link assistant. I’m a bit surprised that WordPress didn’t implement the new Push APIs to get notified of new comments awaiting moderation immediately, but it’s still cool to get any notifications at all.
