Sprint is readying an Android 2.1 firmware upgrade for the HTC Hero and Samsung Moment, according to a leaked screen shot sent to Sprint stores.

The screen shot had a lot of interesting information but was way too small to easily read, so I’ll give you the important parts. Sprint said it is “actively working on having the Android 2.1 platform available to our Hero and Moment customers over the coming weeks.” More information about the update is supposed to be coming in April, and Sprint calls these handsets “superior devices.”

The 2.1 fervor comes just a few days after Sprint announced it will support the Nexus One. Let’s just hope Sprint doesn’t pull a Verizon with its 2.1 upgrade because I’m still waiting for that firmware on my Droid.

If I’m not running 2.1 by mid May this is the last HTC device I ever buy.
