App Store 'Gifting' Now Available

Yesterday a big feature enhancement hit iTunes for those that have been wanting to ‘gift’ apps. Apple has added the ability for customers to send an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad app to another as a gift via iTunes. Excellent.

To do so all you need to do is click the dropdown next to the ‘Buy App’ button in iTunes. Doing so will reveal the new ‘Gift This App’ option, along with the other options you’re used to seeing (add to wish list, tell a friend, share on twitter, etc.).

Selecting ‘Gift This App’ will take you to a new page that lets you specify the recipient’s name and email, plus you can even supply a personal message. The whole process is quite easy and pain-free, but of course, you’ll need to be signed in and have a valid credit card on file to make speedy payment. iTunes Store credit cannot be used to purchase a gift. When done, the gift is immediately emailed to your recipient’s email address with your personal message in-tow. Easy!

Let the gifting begin. If anyone would like to ‘gift’ me an app, please email me and I’ll send you my shortlist of most wanted apps 😛 haha 🙂
