A few weeks after its successful iPhone app, the good folks at Digg have released a native Android app of the popular news aggregate site.

“The Digg Android app has been designed for an ideal mobile Digg browsing experience on an Android phone,” Digg said on its blog. “You can browse and digg stories and comments, and the app supports landscape mode for browsing story titles and pages that load in the in-app browser.”

I downloaded the program for my Droid and it looks well-done. The company says it’s optimized for the high-resolution screens of Motorola’s handset and the Nexus One, so let me know how it looks on one of the wimpier Android phones. I really dig the in-app browser because it removes a lot of the friction from this type of program. Unfortunately, you can’t comment directly from the app yet but I’m sure that will come with an update.
