Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 has cleared a major regulatory hurdle, with the device now spotted in FCC filings carrying model number SM-F776U. The certification signals that Samsung is moving closer to its planned July announcement of three new foldable devices.

The timing aligns with Samsung’s typical summer release schedule for its foldable lineup. This year, the company reportedly plans to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 8 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at a London event on July 22. The regulatory approvals across multiple agencies suggest Samsung is preparing for a global rollout.

The FCC approval confirms several key features for the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The device will support 5G connectivity, NFC payments, wireless charging, and wireless power sharing. Beyond the FCC, the phone has also received certification from SGS-Fimko and BIS, indicating Samsung’s push to secure approvals across different markets ahead of launch.

Performance-wise, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to run on either the Exynos 2600 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, depending on the region. Samsung already uses these same chips in the Galaxy S26 and S26+ models, bringing flagship-level performance to the compact foldable format.

The display setup appears to be getting an upgrade. Reports suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will feature a larger 6.9-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate, paired with a 4.1-inch cover screen. This represents a notable increase in screen real estate compared to previous models.

Camera improvements are also on the table, with rumors pointing to:

  • 50MP main camera sensor
  • 12MP ultrawide lens
  • 10MP front-facing camera

Battery life should see improvements too, with a 4,300mAh battery supporting 25W fast charging. The device will ship with Android 17-based One UI 9 and include Samsung’s Gemini Intelligence AI features.

The regulatory approvals mark an important step in Samsung’s foldable strategy. The company has been working to expand its foldable market share, and the Z Flip series has proven particularly popular with consumers looking for a compact phone that unfolds into a full-sized device. With competition heating up in the foldable space from Chinese manufacturers, Samsung’s summer refresh will be closely watched by industry observers.
