In all but surprising news we have Truphone announcing an iPad version of its multi-network instant messaging and VoIP client. As a result, they say that iPad is instantly turned into a (quite large) phone.
You can chat with your buddies across IM networks — AIM, Google Talk and MSN — as well as call other Truphone and Google Talk users for free. Plus, there are good all cheap VoIP calls to mobile phones and landlines that start at 5 cents a minute.
As you can see from the list above, Skype (and some other IM networks) is/are missing. I presume Truphone folks wanted to roll out their application as soon as iPad is released and upgrade it later. I’ve no doubts iPad version will be as powerful (and even more powerful) as its iPhone and iPod Touch counterparts in the near future. In the meantime, if AOL, Google Talk and MSN are all you need, hit the link below and grab Truphone for your brand new tablet. It’s free, after all. 😉
