TELUS HTC Hero Android 2.1 Update Delayed

TELUS customers packing an HTC Hero will want to sit up and listen to this. I know you’ve been waiting more than patiently for your Android 2.1 update… but by the sounds of things you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer. Previously the update was rumored to hit sometime in April. But now, TELUS has commented that ‘due to a lack of effort, the HERO’s update to Android 2.1 has been delayed to the first week of May’.

Lack of effort? Who’s lack of effort? Surely TELUS aren’t calling themselves out, are they? :P

Whatever the case, TELUS HTC Hero users, sit tight. The Android 2.1 update is coming, and when it arrives (finally), perhaps you’ll appreciate it just a little bit more. Good things come to those that wait.

Got from a corporate representative from Telus (west coast) who spoke to HTC. Basically the release date has not been agreed to, ‘internally’ it maybe around June. but basically it’s a no go for now. I’m sure it will come just not as soon as everyone would like.

Well July is almost here and still no 2.1 update from telus

  • Threeark

While most carriers in the world have now updated their Hero's to 2.1 all of us on Telus are still waiting. They clearly don't care too much about their customers.

  • Aaron

It's July. Still no update. TELUS sucks.

  • k386

This is horse-poopy-cock! (pardon the strong language)

The only reason they are delaying this upgrade is to sell more and more expensive phones.
Telus doesn't give one good-goddamn about their existing clients.

I'm glad i bought my phone outright, I will never again choose Telus after this.

I do not care for any of them, telus, bell or rogers. Thay all got us by the balls

  • Shawn

why, I am using telus now for 10 years now. I know their service is highly overpriced and reps not nice. But like harley says, they are all the same. My point is, if you bargain, Telus will give you more and better. For me, I get free phones every 2 to 2.5 years, with renewal of contract, I get renewal fee free, I only pay 17 dollas after tax a month, they credit me $7.70 for 911 charge every month to match other carriers. free early evening starting from 6pm. free call display. they even block data for me on their end so I don't get charged on my 'pay per use' data plan which i never heard of anyone got them to do that ever so far. I only paid $10 a month for last 2 years when they by mistake credited me double times. how i got this great deal from Telus? just tell them you want to quit cuz other providers are offerting this and that way better plans. either you get it or you move on to whatever other one that will do better job than telus. I enjoy my telus bills! :) um.. maybe I should not post my email address here.

September and no answer from either HTC or Telus. Since everyone else seems to have this update, it’s obvious HTC is not the issue.

Why can’t we have what everyone else is already enjoying?

Keep it up Telus, and HTC may drop you. I may drop you too.

  • Tyson

Well I have spoken to a telus rep and guess what, they wont be updating the android htc hero!!!! They have no answer as to when this will occur, so in laymans term it is not going to happen. Best bet is to root the phone and update it that way or better yet, get the blackberry torch that will soon be released from blackberry which is in the states right now. I am dropping the htc hero and going back to the most reliable phone on the market, BLACKBERRY!!! It is not htc or google android that is stopping the update it is telus who is not releasing the update. They want your money, they want you to buy a new phone plain and simple as that.

    Hi Everyone,

I think telus is worst provider. How can they stand by a product and not
support it and yet expect its customers to pay thousands of dollars a year
To honour their contract. If telus
ad to opporate in a competive envirnoment
we as users would never have to deal with these problems. The problem lies with a lot
Government policy created in past. Thankfully our current government realizes but
many institutions like the CRTC dont since actually protect out current providers against foreign
competition. I think we should all threaten to leave telus if they do
Nothing or leave for a new carrier. Why are we paying a lot or money for poor
Service. I think we deserve a new phone, no cost to us that will provide reasonable service.

I am livid, I just bought this stupid phone and renewed my contract, now i find out that this phone is basicaly junk because telus sucks bawls not happy
