Olive Telecommunication, the company behind the “powered by AAA batteries” phone, is working on a tri-SIM device for India.
The so called Wiz V-GC800 will reportedly be able to handle one CDMA and two GSM connections at the same time. Moreover, it will rock a QWERTY keyboard (making it ideal for texting and email), IM and social networking client (Facebook, Twitter), 2-megapixel camera that can take both photos and videos, FM radio, Bluetooth and a microSD memory card slot. In addition, the Wiz V-GC800 will support changeable back panes (black, yellow and silver), and will come with an affordable price tag of under 5,000 INR (about $115). At that price, it should sell like hot cupcakes on a cold winter day.
The exact release date is unknown at the moment, and the same goes for Olive’s plans to bring it outside India. Personally, I’ve no doubts such a device could sell well in other parts of the world, Asia especially.
