A feature overview of BlackBerry Internet Service 3.1 has squeaked its way out, outlining the Yahoo! and Windows Live contacts sync that we’ve been expecting in the next BIS update. On top of that, there is mention that there will be calendar sync as well for Yahoo! accounts accessed on BlackBerry, which is a feature we were expecting to have with Google at the same time, except that no mention of Google services is made in the document. Perhaps Google’s calendar sync will be rolled into another package like the “enhanced GMail plug-in“, entirely separate from the BlackBerry Internet Service.
As for all of that hubbub about BIS 3.0 getting two-way GMail syncronization, it looks like that isn’t going to happen until 3.3 or 3.4. Daaaaang. 3.1 should be out this June, while 3.2 will be rolled out in October. If you want to take a look at the BIS 3.1 feature overview, you can download it here.
