AdMob-owned AdWhirl has been updated recently. Among the new functionalities included in the updated service, we highlight:

  • Ability to use an unlimited number of ad networks — previously developers could add one ad network of their choice (AdMob, JumpTap, MDotM, Millennial Media, and Quattro Wireless for iPhone apps; and AdMob and Quattro Wireless for Android apps).
  • Support for Quattro Wireless has been expanded to support iAd, Apple’s upcoming ad network.
  • AdWhirl House Ads have been updated as well, giving developers the ability to centrally manage their House Ads across their iPhone and Android apps.

AdWhirl ends the news with some cool numbers: at the moment, there are more than 1,700 apps (175 of which are Android apps) actively using AdWhirl’s ad mediation service — up from 1,300 apps 4 months ago. Daily ad requests have also jumped from 40 million to more than 100 million today.

Finally, AdMob said it’s committed to further invest in AdWhirl, and you can bet we’ll keep watching for any mobile advertising-related news. Stay tuned…
