Western Digital joins the iPhone app craze with WD Photos

Western Digital is out with its own iPhone app called WD Photos. The application which works as a photo viewer is made to work with the company’s My Book World Edition and WD ShareSpace network drives, allowing users to access up to 250,000 of their photos from anywhere in the world — as long as they are stored in the “Shared Pictures” folder.

Each of the mentioned WD drives comes with a special application that optimizes pictures for viewing on the iPhone/iPod Touch’s screen, while also keeping the original images in full resolution.

You can browse through your complete library and filter results by album, folder, date and even file name. Of course you can also share (email) photos to friends, assign them to contacts, add them to the camera roll and view more of them in a slideshow.

WD Photos photo viewer app is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch OS 3.1 or later and if you have WD’s My Book World Edition network drive or WD ShareSpace network storage system, there’s no reason why not to try it out. Before grabbing the app, you’ll have to register with WD’s free MioNet remote access service. That’s free as well…
