Shortly following a small service update, a private alert from Palm notified developers of a new webOS software development kit that will be available early May, 2-3 weeks before end-users get their mitts on the latest version. The main warning goes out to developers who have used the plug-in development kit to create their apps, though everyone using the standard SDK should make sure they’re all stable with the new OS too. Odds are this won’t be a significant update; the big one is due in the fall, with an App Catalog revamp, new APIs, and new web app tools. With the HP acquisition of Palm, we’ll likely see these kind of updates come fast and furious to bring webOS up to speed with the competition.
