Samsung has officially opened the floodgates, or so they hope so. The Korean company has made the Bada OS SDK available for everyone, not just for select partners which were able to play with it since January.

Still in beta (version 1.0.0b2), the SDK is jam packed with APIs, UI builder, documentation and an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that rocks simulator, debugger, code samples and so on.

The question is – will developers jump on board? There are no doubts in my mind Samsung will move quite a few Wave units, which is the first Bada-powered device launched at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Moreover, the company said more Bada devices are coming later this year – but that may not be enough to entice developers to embrace the platform. Look at Symbian – it’s still leading the smartphone space, yet very few developers (when compared to those making iPhone and Android apps) are making any apps for the platform.

Anyway, you can download the Bada SDK from here, and if you have a thought or two on the “developers embracing Bada” issue drop us a line in the comments form below, k? ;)

Tried it and it seems very promissing. Maybe a good option for a less crouded market
