VOCEL is bringing its Pill Phone app to the iPhone. Initially, the application was available for select feature phones and we’ve seen it being offered by Verizon Wireless. Now any iPhone owner can use it to remember its prescription.
Here’s how it works:
- First you create a list of prescription medications and schedule personalized reminders when to take each dose.
- When the time comes, the Pill Phone will show medication reminder using “push notifications.”
- Upon seeing the reminder, you can set that the medication has been taken or can select “Snooze” whereupon the reminder is re-sent 30 minutes later.
All medication reminders and responses are available as a Medication Administration Record on www.pillphone.com for review by family members or caregivers within a health network. What’s more, an alert can be set up so that if a person misses a dose, a member of the family can be sent an SMS or email.
In a nutshell, Pill Phone is one of those super useful apps. Hopefully, you don’t need it, but if you know someone who does – make sure tell him or her about it.
