AdMob: We’ve served out 200 billionth ad!

AdMob announced that it has served its 200 billionth ad! The first 100 million was served nine months ago on August 10, 2009 and in that period the mobile advertising company did a lot, including:

  • Launching AdMob.com in 9 new languages
  • Opening an office in Singapore
  • Releasing several new ad units for Android and iPhone apps
  • Upgrading the Campaign Management interface, Publisher tools some other products
  • Greatly expanding and improving AdWhirl – open-sourced it, launched support for Android, and launched a greatly improved interface for developers
  • Announcing plans to be acquired by Google
  • Growing to more than 160 people!

One wonders what’s next for AdMob. I’ve no doubts when the acquisition by Google is a done deal, we’ll see them keep growing at an even faster pace. In that sense, I wouldn’t be surprised to read the “next 100 billion ads served” announcement within just four months. Moreover, I would expect them to support the upcoming wave of Android-powered tablets…
