AT&T has recently added their myWireless application available to Android devices. Er, device. The application will allow you view and pay your bill right from within it, view text, minute, and data usage, and add or remove features.
It’s nice that Android is getting some love from AT&T. Since the carrier only offers one Android device, there’s probably less incentive to push the application until more devices are available – kudos on taking the initiative, AT&T.
Instead of having to go to the AT&T website on your computer, you can pay your bill on the go, using the myWireless app on your Motorola Backflip. A nice feature indeed. This might be a big announcement for the carrier, but will Android users even download the app? I’m sure it will be downloaded many times, but even with T-Mobile’s ‘My Account‘ app, I still go to the website to pay my bill.
No longer will a user have to text a combination of numbers to find out how many texts they have sent, or minutes they have used. Now it’s all available in the same place. The ability to add or remove features is certainly a bonus. I don’t have the Backflip or AT&T, so I haven’t been able to try the application out. I also wonder if AT&T Nexus One users will actually be able to download and use the application. We’ll have to find that one out for you.
It’s simple enough. It’s helpful enough. But it’s not that big of a deal. Still, it’s enough to be news worthy, and some of you may have been waiting for something like this. I hope it suits you well. Welcome to the club!
The myWireless application is available for free in the Android Market.
