Motorola’s sexiest next handset will probably be the Droid Shadow, but after seeing another handset pop up on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group’s certification site, Motorola’s clearly got other hardware coming out first. The Motorola XT502 packs a touchscreen, quad-band EDGE, tri-bad 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 3.5 mm headphon jack, and some flavour of Android. We’re not sure what kind of camera is on there or what the screen resolution will be, but based on model number it’s likely to only launch in China anyway (although the bands could, in theory, support North American carriers).
Motorola’s milking Android for all it’s worth, and boy do they need to if they want to stay ahead of Apple in global market share. Motorola seems willing to play around a fair bit with their form factors, but this Greco is pretty standard, closely resembling the HTC Magic or Nexus One. We’ll keep an eye out for more info on the XT502, and if actually ever comes to North America.
