So you bought an iPhone 3GS recently, though stock was running low, not knowing that the iPhone 4 was going to be announced by Apple at WWDC. You must hate yourself quite a bit right now, but don’t fret for too long. AT&T has you in mind and is prepared to offer some consolation. According to two reports, you can either get a rebate for your purchase or just straight up grab the new iPhone 4. Pretty sweet deal, right?
If you bought your phone between May 7 and June 7, you can get a $50 rebate for your 16GB iPhone 3GS, or $100 if you bought the 32GB model. All you have to do is fill out a request form within 30 days of purchase. Apparently if you bought it early in that time frame, you have until Jun 14 to file a request.
Otherwise, and I might be biased but I’d say this is the better move, you can trade up completely for the iPhone 4. If you bought your 3GS between May 7 and June 7, and the idea of an iPhone and a pocket full of cash doesn’t entice you, get in line and do the right thing. The only catch is that if you bought your 3GS at a closeout or discounted price after June 7, no goods for you. Perhaps the best thing you can do is return it within your 30-day cancellation period and wait until June 24 like everyone else. Just sayin’.
And in other news, AT&T stores will reportedly be opening at 7:00 a.m. on June 24 to get a head start on the iPhone 4. New customers will be allowed to activate only one line for an iPhone 4 purchase whereas existing customers can upgrade all current numbers on their plan. Again, be sure to get in line early because if history teaches us anything, it’s that most of us are stuck checking stock on Apple’s website after midnight to see if stores will have iPhone availability the next day.
