Bandwidth. There just isn’t enough of it to go around given our demands, so Nokia is diving in head first to figure out a solution for all our mobile broadband woes. What the manufacturer has come up with is cognitive radio, or radio that is intelligent and adjusts and suits itself to current given spectrum availability. According to Nokia, “Cognitive radios are aware of their surroundings and bandwidth availability and are able to dynamically tune the spectrum usage based on location, nearby radios, time of day and other factors.”

The idea behind cognitive radio ensures that we stay sufficiently connected at all times so that we never have to worry about congestion or bandwidth hogs. But you know what’s better than me spouting off about Nokia cognitive radio? A cute, animated video explaining the technology instead. Enjoy.
