Realme C100x unveiled: a budget phone that bets everything on battery life

Realme has quietly built a reputation for squeezing oversized batteries into affordable phones, and the new C100x pushes that formula further than before. As reported by NokiaMob, the device pairs an 8,000mAh battery with a 120Hz display, 45W fast charging, and military-grade drop resistance, all while staying in the entry-level price bracket.

That kind of spec sheet would have been unusual even in a mid-range phone two years ago. Now Realme is packaging it for buyers in Thailand and Russia at under 7,000 baht or roughly 17,000 rubles. That signals a broader shift in what budget phones can deliver in 2026, particularly around battery capacity and physical durability.

The C100x is not aimed at photographers or gamers. It targets commuters, field workers, and anyone who spends long stretches away from a charger and just needs their phone to keep working. That is a larger market than most people assume, and Realme is smart to go after it directly.

The 8,000mAh battery is the obvious talking point, and the numbers Realme puts behind it are striking. The company claims over 21 hours of continuous video playback and up to 29 hours of call time on a single charge. At 8.78mm thick and 219g, the phone is heavier than a typical slim handset but not unreasonably so given what is packed inside.

Charging comes via 45W wired fast charging, which should top the battery up reasonably quickly despite its size. The phone also supports reverse wired charging, meaning it can charge accessories or even another phone in a pinch. For travelers or anyone who doubles as a portable power source for friends, that is a genuinely useful feature.

The display is a 6.8-inch IPS LCD running at 120Hz, which keeps scrolling and animations smooth. Realme also includes DC dimming to reduce screen flicker, which matters for users sensitive to eye strain during long sessions. Peak brightness hits 900 nits in high-brightness mode, which should hold up reasonably well outdoors.

The one clear compromise on the screen is resolution. The panel runs at 720 x 1570, which is HD+ rather than Full HD+. At 6.8 inches, that means text and images will not look as sharp as on competing phones at a similar price. It is a real trade-off, though most casual users watching video or scrolling social media probably will not notice unless they are coming from a sharper display.

Under the hood, the C100x runs on a Unisoc T7250 chipset. This is entry-level silicon, not built for heavy gaming or demanding apps, but it should handle everyday tasks without trouble. Configuration options vary by market and go up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with microSD expansion available for users who need more space for offline content or local media.

The camera setup is functional rather than ambitious:

  • 50MP main rear camera with autofocus
  • Auxiliary secondary sensor
  • 5MP front camera
  • Rear video recording up to 1080p at 30fps

That is enough for social media snapshots and video calls, but anyone who cares about photography should look elsewhere. The phone ships with Android 16 and Realme UI 7.0, including some AI-based tools for image processing and system optimization.

On durability, the C100x carries an IP64 rating, which covers dust resistance and protection against water splashing from any direction. It also meets the MIL-STD-810H standard and Realme claims it can survive drops of up to two meters. Wet Hand Touch support means the screen stays responsive even with damp hands, which is a small but practical detail for outdoor use.

It is worth being clear about what these ratings mean. IP64 is not full waterproofing. You would not want to drop this into a pool or leave it in heavy rain. But it is significantly more resilient than a standard budget phone with no certification at all, and for the target audience, that gap matters.

Pricing so far has been confirmed for Thailand at 6,999 baht and Russia at RUB 16,999 for the 4GB/128GB model and RUB 18,999 for the 4GB/256GB version. Broader availability across other markets has not been confirmed yet, but given Realme’s distribution reach across Southeast Asia, South Asia, and parts of Europe, wider availability seems likely.

The C100x will not win any benchmark competitions, and its camera will not impress anyone who takes mobile photography seriously. But as a durable, long-lasting everyday phone for budget-conscious buyers, it is a well-considered package. In a segment where most phones look and perform nearly identically, a genuine eight-thousand milliamp-hour battery is a real differentiator.
