The Weather Channel App for iPhone Updated

The Weather Channel App for iPhone is one of the most popular weather and forecasting tools out there… and it was recently updated to version 2.82. In a brief note I received from the good folks at The Weather Channel, they tell me the update is a significant one. Key feature updates to the app include:

  • additional support for Simplified Chinese (in language settings)
  • many improvements to the pinch / zoom function on maps
  • ‘Find Me’ button relocated to the front page (as well as every page in the app)

If you’ve never used The Weather Channel for iPhone before, it’s worth a look (especially if weather conditions and forecasts are important to you!). The app pinpoints your location via GPS, and displays full screen, customizable radar maps for reference. There’s live traffic cam integration (handy for checking-in with before you make that morning commute), and Google Mobile Maps are used for fast zooming and panning. Of course, all of the current weather and forecast information for your immediate area is available with one simple tap too. Heck, there’s even a pollen forecast if allergies are a topic of concern for you.

So, if you already have the app installed, hit up your updates panel and grab the update. If you’ve never tried it before, hit up the download link below to get started. A ‘premium’ version of the app is available as well (The Weather Channel MAX), but it will run you $3.99. I recommend you try the free version below, and if enhanced features are required (or you just want to show some love), pick up the premium ‘MAX’ version.

Note: The Weather Channel App for iPhone recently passed the 10 million download mark. That’s a lot of downloads! TWC team also tells me they’re working hard on a new version for iOS 4.0. I’m sure we’ll hear much more about this new version for Apple’s latest mobile OS as soon as it becomes available.
