Jinny Software unveils ringback tone advertising

A company called Jinny Software which entered the mobile advertising space back in February 2009 unveiled a new service – ringback tone advertising. Although it sounds annoying, the good thing is that it’s envisioned as an opt-in service for the customers, who in some cases can even select which advertising tones they want to hear. Moreover, carriers on their end can also setup bonus schemes, allowing those who opt to hear ad-supported ringback tones to earn credits and points and eventually offer them [customers] some real-life rewards in due course. Of course, there’s also the opt-out list that can be customized by carriers, as well as the ability to plan, design and price campaigns.

Personally I don’t like it, but the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) disagrees with me, big time. One of the reasons this kind of advertising can work is that no special handset is required. Furthermore, MMA cites high audience attention during call connection phase that at the moment is pretty much unused. Finally, during the opt-in process, interested subscribers can show brand loyalty by selecting a brand-specific tone…

And you can get additional information from Jinny Software’s website. Even better (or that’s worse), your carrier will inform you about the service the minute it launches it.
