I haven’t heard of Naviextras.com until I got a press release from iGO Navigation solutions informing me/us that I could rent their maps (as opposed to buying them) from the mentioned website.
If you remember, Nokia used to offer the same kind of service for Ovi Maps only to make the navigation free of charge afterwards.
I still like the idea since most people don’t need to have all maps all the time. That’s exactly the idea behind Naviextras.com – to allow you to rent maps for the holiday season (or some other occasion when you need to travel). This way users can save up to 70% when compared to the original purchase price. For example, Europe is available for $39.95 instead of $99.95, and Brazil maps could be rented for just $19.95 (as opposed to the purchase price of $49.95).
Naviextras.com’s database has over 100 GB of updates and is compatible with over 1,200 devices from 110 brands. Full list of compatible navigation devices is available from Naviextras’ website…
