Samsung Dive service remotely protects data on your Wave, Galaxy S

Good news for the Samsung Wave and Galaxy S owners. In addition to shipping the powerful devices, the Korean giant has also made a bonus service, Samsung Dive, available free of charge for the folks with any of the two phones.

The service, which is an extension of Mobile Tracker, is made to to help users lock or wipe down the phone in case of a theft or loss. In that sense, Dive allows you to setup notification alerts as soon as the SIM card is changed and receive location of the phone — though that location part won’t be available everywhere due to legal and security reasons.

At the moment, Samsung Dive is available in the UK and Germany with more countries to be added in the near future.

I like the idea of offering the free post-sale services. It’s something many of the handset makers — including Apple and Nokia — are doing today in an effort to make their products more appealing to the customers. Hopefully, every friggin’ company will realize that’s the way to fight for consumers’ hearts and minds. 😉
