
Distimo, which as you may know provides free analytics services for app developers, is out with its June report, covering app performance across mobile app stores. Some of the findings you may have read from Blake’s article on the subject, but here are other highlights as well:
- More than 50% of applications are priced below or equal to $2.00 in all stores, except in Blackberry App World and Windows Marketplace for Mobile.
- The average price of all paid applications and the 100 most popular paid applications in the Apple AppStore for iPad ($4.65) is higher than in the Apple AppStore for iPhone ($4.01)
- Google Android Market has the largest share of free apps (57%) while Windows Marketplace for Mobile has the smallest (22%).
- 5 out of 10 most popular free apps in the Windows Marketplace for Mobile are published by Microsoft.
- Twitter is the number 10 free application in the Apple AppStore for iPhone, and the number 6 free application in the Android Market.
- 9 out of the 10 most popular free apps and 8 out of the 10 most popular paid apps in the Apple AppStore for iPhone are in the Games category.
- In the e-reader market for the iPad, Apple’s iBooks is ranked number 1, while Amazon’s Kindle app is ranked number 10.
