Compete, a Kantar Media company, is out with the results of its Q1 2010 Smartphone Intelligence survey, showing how smartphone owners use their devices. Here’s what they got:
Local search: Nearly one in three smartphone owners having called or stopped into a local business after finding it using a local search application. Close to a third of Android and iPhone owners discovered at least two new businesses using local search apps in the first quarter of the year.
Social networking: 33% of smartphone Twitter users primarily send tweets via their smartphones, and 33% of these consumers prefer to read tweets on their phone. In terms of the Facebook usage, people read news feeds on their phone (66%), post status updates (60%), read/reply to private messages (59%) and post photos (44%).
Mobile gaming: Apple rules this front — 51% of iPhone owners have five or more games loaded on their shiny gadget, and 37% of them play games on a daily basis. In contrast, 46% of BlackBerry users have no games on their devices.
