Local search company Yellowbook is teaming up with adaffix, which makes a social call recognition software for smartphones, to launch something really interesting. Before I go into details explaining what the two companies plan to do, let me tell you what adaffix does. Their application works when you take or make a phone call. If you’re calling a friend, adaffix will search for that person on Facebook and display his or her status alongside the phone number on the idle screen. Alternatively, the application can identify the number calling by searching for yellow pages, turning unknown numbers into something more familiar.

On the other hand, let’s say you want to call a local pizza restaurant to order something to eat. Busy? adaffix will search for other local pizza restaurants and suggest alternatives. This process is done in the background so you don’t have to do anything once the app is installed.

Searching for local businesses is what Yellowbook does and that’s the whole point of this partnership.

If you haven’t understood what I was saying, there’s a short video demonstrating adaffix in real-life situation. adaffix is available for Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian S60 and BlackBerry devices, in select markets including Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium and now United States.
