During this morning’s press conference, Apple has more or less acknowledged that its iPhone 4 isn’t perfect and the antenna has its issues (even though it sold 3 million units). While it tried to come up with a fix or a solution, Apple is offering some consolation in the meantime: free iPhone cases. That’s right, if you have an iPhone 4 and you’d like a case to solve your antenna woes, Apple will be shipping one to you free. If you already bought a case or a bumper for your iPhone, the company will reimburse your costs. The offer will be good for iPhone 4 units purchased through September 30.

If a case isn’t for you, and you aren’t happy with what Apple is offering as a solution, it is also giving full refunds within 30 days of purchase. Since it has been less than 30 days since launch, this means that you’re entitled to a full refund now if that’s the route you choose to take. Otherwise, a free case doesn’t sound so bad. Sure, you’ll be covering up that sexy industrial design, but perhaps making phone calls and getting fast data speeds is a little sexier.

Since Apple can’t manufacture bumper cases fast enough, it is also giving away other types of cases for free. Although it hasn’t been specified yet, I’m sure you’ll find one that you like, or at least one you’re willing to deal with so your phone works properly. Side of effect of these cases: slightly added protection for your new iPhone 4.
