Telus Launches INQ Chat 3G for Social Networking Fanatics

As expected, Preparing for the back-to-school rush, Telus has announced the INQ Chat 3G. This is a BREW-based handset that has already made the rounds in the UK, and is finally working its way over to North America. Its seemingly singular function is to get connected with online social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live Messenger, and Skype. On top of all that, there are home screen widgets to keep tabs on regular updates.

As far as hard specs go, the INQ Chat 3G has 3G, GPS (no Wi-Fi, sadly), Bluetooth, a 2.8″ QVGA display, 3.2 megapixel camera, and it supports data tethering. It’s just too bad Telus didn’t hold out for an Android device from INQ, but who knows, maybe we’ll see one in time for the holidays.

The INQ Chat 3G seems like a good option for those who might consider a BlackBerry for efficient messaging, but would rather skip the stuffy interface for something a little more colourful (although possibly a bit less robust). You can pick up the INQ Chat 3G at Telus for free on a two- or three-year contract, or $179.99 with no strings attached. Head on over here for our hands-on video of the hardware and software.
