Easy Root is a one-click root Android app for Motorola Droid, Droid X, and Milestone

EasyRoot

If the handful of root methods for various Android phones we’ve seen before isn’t enough for you, we’ve got another one for you that should make rooting your Motorola Droid (with Froyo), Droid X, or Milestone as easy as downloading an app and pressing a button. Easy Root is another one-click app that requires no knowledge of hacking.

So if you’ve manually installed Froyo on your Motorola Droid or you have a Droid X or Milestone in hand, you can easy get root access by simply download an Android app. I’m honestly getting a little tired of all these methods floating around, but it’s good to see more user-friendly root options like these becoming available. Easy Root doesn’t need to be connected to a computer, just click a button and done. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the newer rooting methods that require computers aren’t as hard as they used to be at all, but apps like this may make rooting a little more appealing for those who want to see what it’s all about, but aren’t tech savvy enough to dive into the SDK.

The app is about a buck in the Android Market. Once downloaded and installed, you open the app hit Root Me, and if successful you’ll get the screen above. Oddly enough, during the time I was writing this post, the application disappeared from the Android Market. I search for it, found it, left the Market, returned, searched again, and no go. This has been confirmed from other devices I have. So you may need to wait it out to see if the app returns, let’s hope it does. It’s kind of odd to see this pulled, as rooting is now legal. What gives?

We’re not sure if the app was pulled by the developer, or Google themselves, but it certainly puts a damper on this easy method for the Droid users who wanted some root apps on their recently updated Motorola Android phone. Still, it’s cool to know there are a handful of different ways to get root. For now, Droid users, just revel in the fact that you have Froyo when most of the nation does not.

App is great. Google pulled it off because developer was profiting from Google's open source code. Should be resolved soon.

i used this app to root my droid and it was flawless, work amazing with baracle wifi, funny thing is is that is was looking for it in the market to show my friend how to do it and it was gone…..once you download it disappears ill have to try it on another phone

Easyroot has been pulled from the market.

  • Lonnie Gleim

The app was pulled by Google not the developer

  • Anand Srinivasan

It appears that the app is suspended because it used Google's open source for profit making motives – that's against the EULA..

If you root your phone with app, then unroot, will you still receive the 2.2 OTA froyo update

    -MOTOROLA DROID 1

    • joneschones

I haven't received the 2.2 froyo yet. Are they relesing it by state and starting in main??? I'm in CA.
I have the Moto Droid 1. I think rooting is better because you get your updates sooner.

Easyroot was [ulled because the developer used sourcecode from the droidmod team without asking

    Can you say Copyright violation!!

  • john

will this work on a droid x with froyo?

    • Josh

      Learn to read.
“So if you’ve manually installed Froyo on your Motorola Droid or you have a Droid X or Milestone in hand, you can easy get root access by simply download an Android app.”

      • Andrew

Josh, the part of the sentence that says “or you have” right before it mentions the droid x and milestone implies it’s separate from the droid w/ froyo. I am wondering the same thing as John.

  • Adam.

wait i have a question how do i get easy root on my driod X

  • http://www.motoask.com motorola droid

I read last night that Moto put a program on the DroidX that bricks it
if you try to unlock or root it. And that to unbrick it, you have to
send the phone back to Moto *and* pay the repair and shipping charges.
True? Not true? If it’s unlockable/rootable, the DroidX is my ideal next
    phone.
