USA Today released an updated version of its iPad app. There are two major improvements included:

  • Popular Life section crossword puzzle – which now you can solve with nothing but your fingers.
  • Money section financial tools for managing portfolios and stock quote lookups.

In addition, the media company also announced new third quarter advertising partners – Barnes & Noble, Capital One, Coca-Cola and Jeep. And in case you wonder, rich media advertising for the USA Today app is powered by Gannett’s PointRoll subsidiary.

If you remember, USA Today was one of the first companies to launch its iPad app, which so far has been downloaded for more than 800,000 times. Using it [application] you can quickly access all of the award-winning content from the popular newspaper…

Commenting on the release, David L. Hunke (president and publisher of USA TODAY) said: “We are pleased to build on the success of our initial iPad App launch in April. We’ve been thrilled with reader reaction to our App and think these enhancements will be well received. We share in this latest mobile success with our loyal advertising partners.”
