Samsung let loose their Galaxy Tab Android tablet in a promotional video on its new teaser website dedicated to this portable tablet. As expected, the Galaxy Tab will include Android 2.2 Froyo as its operating system of choice, video calling via the front-facing camera, Swype keyboard, augmented reality, HD movie support, and a 7-inch screen. This highly anticipated Android tablet is expected to be officially unveiled at IFA on September 2nd. wOOt!
The Galaxy Tab stands to be the first real competitor to the Apple iPad by offering Android 2.2 with a very usable, yet portable tablet based on a 7-inch display. The Galaxy Tab will also ship with the Swype keyboard which will be absolutely awesome on a 7-inch screen. We haven’t yet had a chance to try the letter-tracing Swype keyboard on a display as big as the Tab’s, but it should prove to be an interesting experience.
On paper, the Samsung tablet even eclipses its nearest Android competitor, the Dell Streak, which currently offers Android 1.6 on a 5-inch screen. There are other highly-anticipated tablets yet to come this year, but the Tab is certainly on the short list of slick tablets to keep our eyes on.
Proof is in the pudding and we can’t wait to get a sneak peek at this tablet next week at IFA Berlin 2010. We will be on hand so watch for our live coverage.
