We had heard about a new Motorola Quench dubbed XT5 crossing the FCC awhile back, and the Bluetooth SIG before that, but had few details to run with. A nice batch of specs, including a hardware overview have surfaced to provide a clearer picture of what to expect. Much like the Backflip, the XT5 has a 3.2″ 320 x 480 display, 256 MB of RAM, and a 5 megapixel camera with flash. The XT5 will upgrade a bit from the Backflip with Android 2.1, and is unlikely to launch with Froyo. Here are a few more detailed specs to consider:
OS: Android 2.1 (Éclair)
Band/Modes: WCDMA 900/1900/2100, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps (Category 7/8), EDGE Class 12
Weight: 114 g
Dimensions: 56 x 114 x 13 mm
Display: 3.2? 480×320 HVGA 262k
Battery: 1270 mAh
GSM Talktime: 8.2 hours
GSM Standby Time: 23.3 days
WCDMA Talktime: 6.4 hours
WCDMA Standby Time: 22.7 days
Others: FM radio, DivX video playback
While it’s certainly no blockbuster, the XT5 will provide a more traditional slate form factor for Motorola’s Android lineup, especially for their mid-range selection which has been kept warm by awkward form factors in the Charm and Flipout. The Droid X and Droid 2 are keeping most people interested in the upper end these days, but we can assume that if it’s priced right, the XT5 will still appeal.
