Samsung: Smartphones make the bathroom a productive place

The boardroom is coming to the bathroom, says a Samsung survey

Samsung just hit us up with an interesting survey about how smartphones are making it possible to do business everywhere. Yes, friends, that means the bathroom is quickly becoming a place to get business done.

As smartphones continue to gain mainstream market share, it is making it easier to stay connected to your business contacts anywhere you go – and I do mean anywhere. The Samsung survey said 72% of those responding were comfortable taking calls while in the bathroom.

That’s relatively understandable, as a big business deal is worth a little bathroom phone loving. What’s a little wackier is that 16% admitted to taking calls while at a funeral and 10% will take them while in “the throes of passion.” That’s right, people will stop having sex in order to answer a business call.

Those are just the silly parts of the survey, as it did show how these powerful mobile devices are expanding our ability to do business on the go. Maybe Google was right when it said smartphones will make desktops “irrelevant” in as few as three years.

The Samsung survey said 40% of those responding said they feel most productive working on a smartphone outside the office, rather than at a desktop computer. Almost a third (32%) found their smartphone to be more important than their desktop or laptop computer and more than half will start working on a project on their smartphone, even if a monitor is within close proximity.

Let us know the worst place you’ve picked up a phone call or sent a text or e-mail.
