Juniper Research: Mobile gambling wagers to surpass $48 billion by 2015

According to a new report from Juniper Research titled “Mobile Gambling Markets: Casinos, Lotteries & Betting 2010-2015,” the increasing number of mobile casino, lottery and betting services, along with the liberalisation of remote gambling legislation will see the scale of annual wagers on mobile gambling exceed $48 billion by 2015.

In recent years, Japan Racing Association’s iPAT service had been responsible for the bulk of global mobile gambling transactions, with UK’s casino and betting services accounting for much of the remainder. However, China is the market worth looking, as proved by the sharp surge in adoption of the mobile lottery service launched by VODone. At the same time, the U.S. market is also poised to see the introduction of its first mobile lottery services…

Other findings from the report include:

  • End-users have eschewed multiplayer mobile gambling apps, preferring to multitask while playing “snacking” applications.
  • Although Apple has begun to permit gambling iPhone apps in the AppStore, the majority of service providers are opting for a browser-based approach.

And you can get more information from Juniper’s website.
