Nine years after the tragic events in the New York City, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum released 9/11 Memorial app for the iPhone and iPod Touch as a guide to understanding 9/11 through the eyes of those who witnessed the events.
The application is designed as a seven-stop walking tour of the area around the World Trade Center, accompanied by audio and photo narration. First responders, rescue workers, volunteers, and those who lived and worked in Lower Manhattan on 9/11 will guide you around the are a, though you can access all the content from anywhere.
Also included is the augmented reality mode in which photos, contributed to the museum by survivors and witnesses through 911history.org, are overlaid on the camera view.
Finally, there’s the interactive timeline of the day’s events and aftermath.
In a nutshell, it’s an app every U.S. citizen should install on its iDevice… or at least me thinks so. Besides, it’s free – so there’s no reason why not to download.
