USA WEEKEND, Whrrl team-up on mobile shopper marketing

USA WEEKEND Magazine and maker of the mobile location check-in service Whrrl, Pelago, are teaming-up to launch a mobile shopper marketing program to give the magazine’s advertisers the opportunity to leverage Whrrl’s technology to connect with smartphone users in-home and as they shop in-store.

Under the deal, USA WEEKEND will build custom societies for marketers and invite readers and shoppers to join. Members of this new society will use the service while shopping at major retailers to view relevant content from USA WEEKEND and exclusive brand messages. Moreover, those who check into select stores will earn rewards and chances to win prizes like shopping gift cards, movie tickets and electronics. Finally, the product recommendations feature among members is also incorporated in the platform.

ConAgra and Kellogg’s are the first brands that will take advantage of the new offering. ConAgra’s Marie Callender’s is launching the Family Meals society on November 7th, providing its members with recipes and tips on “how to bring the family together for daily meals.” The Kellogg’s campaign will debut in December…
