Splatterhouse for iPhone

As a youngster, I remember the game ‘Splatterhouse’ quite vividly. A neighbour and friend of mine had the good fortune of having a TurboGrafx 16, and as luck would have it… he invited me over to play ‘Splatterhouse’ one day. I clearly remember wondering if my parents would approve of such a game (they wouldn’t)… and also wondered why my friends’ parents thought it was all good for a youngster (we couldn’t have been more than 6 or 7) to play a game with such gore. Who knows… this was the 80′s, and for the time, this was one nasty game.

With that in mind, I’m pleased to tell you that the classic Splatterhouse title is all cued up and ready to go for iOS devices. Yes, you can get your blood ‘n guts fix real soon, as the game is due to launch on November 18th.

The game appears to be a port of the arcade version instead of the TurboGrafx version, which, in the end should be a good thing. I also remember the arcade version being much more bloody… so fans of the original title may be in for a retro-treat come release. We’ll have to wait and see.

For game modes, the original stages should all be included… In addition, a ‘rush’ mode may also be on-board. In this mode you face off and then rip the faces off of incoming enemies that attack you relentlessly in one room. It’s up to you to stay alive as long as you can.

Pricing? Rumor has it Splatterhouse will run $2.99. I’d gladly throw down $3 for the title… and I’m going to go ahead and assume many more gamers from my era would/will do the same. Mark your calendars for November 18th… and get ready to make your way through the 7 stages of West Mansion!
